Mo, Lee Win Gold at Skating Championships

Leading South Korean speed skaters Mo Tae-bum and Lee Sang-hwa have both taken top honors in the men's and women's 500 meter events at the World Single Distance Championships.

At the championships in the Netherlands, Mo Tae-bum finished on top with a time of 34.80 seconds in the first race and a time of 34.84 seconds in the second race. He beat his Dutch rival by one hundredth of a second with a combined time of 69.64 seconds.

In the women's 500 meters, Lee Sang-hwa beat her Chinese competitor and finished first with a combined race time of 75.69 seconds.

Lee is the first South Korean female to win a gold medal at the World Single Distance Championships.
