Gov't Unveils 2012 Action Plan for Science Biz Belt Project

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has finalized an action plan for the year for a science business belt project.

The plan comprises establishing a world-class environment for basic science and research, implementing development projects on key districts of the science business belt, and creating a science-based business environment.

To realize a world-class environment for basic science and research, the government plans to establish roughly 25 research groups and attract top-notch talent from home and abroad, thus strengthening the status of the Institute of Basic Science launched late last year.

For the development projects of key belt districts, the government will set up and launch detailed development plans within the year.

The government will spend 220 billion won to carry out the project.
