LG Twins Releases Pitchers Involved in Match Fixing

LG Twins, a professional baseball team in Seoul, has kicked out of its two pitchers who were implicated in a match fixing scandal.

The team on Tuesday announced its decision to release pitchers Kim Seong-hyun and Park Hyun-jun, saying it has made its conclusion before a judicial judgment is released because players who betray the trust of their fans should not be allowed to participate.

LG Twins also said it would ask the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) to issue lifetime bans if they are criminally punished. LG Twins said it would also humbly accept criticisms directed towards the team.

Kim was arrested last week for allegedly taking millions of won from a gambling broker in return for deliberately issuing first-inning walks. Park, who was grilled by prosecutors last week for his connection, has partially admitted his involvement. Park is not under arrest.
