South Korea’s national soccer team has advanced to the final regional qualifier matches for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil by beating Kuwait at home in the last match of its group.
The South Korean team, led by head coach Choi Kang-hee, defeated Kuwait 2-0 in the final game of Group B, which was held at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul on February 29th.
South Korea netted its first goal in the 21st minute of the second half. Another goal came in five minutes later.
With its record of four wins, one draw and one defeat, South Korea ranked first in its group and advanced to final preliminaries.
Ten countries will be divided into two groups to play final preliminaries beginning in June.
In the final preliminary matches, the first and second place teams of each group will win bids to the World Cup finals. To win a ticket to Brazil, the countries that take third place in each group will hold a match, and the winner of the face-off will have to defeat a nation that ranked fifth in the Latin American regional qualifier.
