Freezing Weather Returns to South Korea

Freezing weather has again settled into South Korea.

Morning lows plunged to around minus ten degrees Celsius on Friday morning in Seoul and its surrounding regions. Most southern regions are also experiencing temperatures below zero.

A cold wave advisory has been expanded to include the northern parts of Gangwon, Gyeonggi and North Gyeongsang Province.

A heavy snow advisory is expected to be issued for west coast regions of the Jeolla Provinces on Friday. Those regions are expected to see two to seven centimeters of snow pile up through Saturday morning when the temperatures will fall even further.

Saturday morning lows are expected to stand at minus 18 degrees Celsius in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province and minus ten degrees in Seoul. Busan morning low is forecast to stand at minus six below.

The cold snap is expected to ease from Monday.
