Park, Lee Make World Cup Qualifier Roster

The list of South Korean soccer players who will compete in the World Cup qualifying match against Kuwait later this month has been finalized.

Head coach Choi Kang-hee announced the national team's 26-player roster Friday, which includes Park Chu-young and Lee Dong-gook. This team of players will take on Uzbekistan in a friendly match on the 25th and in the qualifying match with Kuwait on the 29th.

Park, who is now playing for the English Premier League club Arsenal, made the list as well as Lee Dong-gook, Kim Jung-woo and Kim Sang-sik from the domestic K-league team Jeonbuk Motors.

Coach Choi says Park hasn't been on the field as much lately, but he made the cut considering recent performances when he was playing and the symbolic fact that he formally served as team captain.

The 26 members will gather and hold their first training in Yeong-am, South Jeolla Province on February 18th.

South Korea will face Kuwait at home in its final third round match in the ongoing Asian qualification for the 2014 soccer World Cup in Brazil.

The game against Kuwait will be Choi's first time to lead the national team as head coach in a qualifying match.
