Temps Fall to Minus Ten in Central Region

The first Monday of the New Year has been met with strong winds and lower temperatures.

Temperatures fell by two to three degrees from Sunday to stand around minus ten degrees Celsius in the central region including Seoul and some southern inland areas.

The wind-chill factor pushed down temps to minus 15 in some parts of the central region Monday morning.

On Tuesday, a morning low of minus 14 degrees is forecast in the Daegwallyeong mountain pass and a temp of minus five is expected in Seoul. The gripping cold is expected to continue through early next week.

Snow or rain is forecast in the central region, the Jeolla provinces and upper North Gyeongsang Province from Tuesday afternoon. Snow or rain will continue through Wednesday in Chungcheong and Jeolla provinces and on Jeju Island.
