Bitter Cold Grips Nation, Cold Wave Alerts Issued

Cold wave advisories have been issued in the central region and southern inland areas of the nation.

On Monday, temperatures plunged to minus ten degrees Celsius in the central region. Morning lows fell to minus 17-point-six in the Daegwallyeong mountain pass, minus 15-point-seven in Munsan, Gyeonggi Province, minus ten in Seoul and minus four-point-five in the southern port city of Busan.

Afternoon highs ranged from minus three to five degrees above zero nationwide with minus two in the capital city.

Clear skies are forecast for most parts of the country on Monday while snow is expected in some parts of Jeju Island and the west coast of South Jeolla Province.

The cold wave will begin to let up by Wednesday.
