South Korea's Samsung Lions have won the 2011 Asia Series.

The South Korean team beat Japan’s SoftBank Hawks 5-3 during the Asia Series finals held at the Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in Taiwan on Tuesday.

The Lion’s victory makes it the first Korea Baseball Organization team to win the Asia Series since it was first held in 2005.

Samsung’s starter, Jang Won-sam, was voted most valuable player.

The Samsung Lions, led by coach Ryu Joong-il, finished regular season play in first place this year and went on to win the Korean Series.
