The first snow of the season fell in the capital on Tuesday.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said soft hail mixed with rain fell in Seoul and surrounding areas at around 5:10 a.m. Tuesday. The weather agency said the first snow this winter came 14 days later than last year, and two days later than usual.

Cheorwon and Chuncheon in Gangwon Province also had a chance to see the first snow this season on Tuesday.

The weather agency forecast that parts of Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and western coasts of South Chungcheong Province will see light rain during the day Tuesday while some inland areas of Gangwon Province will see flurries of snow sporadically throughout the day.
