North Korea’s soccer team will not be advancing into the final regional qualifying round for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

North Korea lost 0-1 to Uzbekistan in the third round of regional qualifications in a match in Tashkent on Friday.

North Korea, which has won one match and lost three, will be unable to secure Group C’s top two ranks taken by Japan and Uzbekistan, even if it wins both of its remaining two matches. If it does win its next two matches, North Korea will score nine points, still short of Japan and Uzbekistan’s ten points.

North Korea will play a home match against Japan in Pyongyang on Tuesday.
