New KFA Oficial Aims to Turn S. Korea into Soccer Powerhouse

The new head of the technical committee at the Korea Football Association says he aims to lead Team Korea to join the ranks of the world’s top ten soccer powerhouses.

Former South Korean national team player Hwangbo Kwan said in a news conference on Thursday that based on his experiences as a coach and a KFA official, he will do what it takes for South Korea to join the ranks of the world’s top ten.

Hwangbo said South Korea has seen significant developments in soccer since it cohosted the 2002 World Cup with Japan. But he urged the South Korean soccer circle not to be just satisfied with developments over the past ten years, proclaiming now is the time for the nation to prepare for the next 100 years.

He stressed the importance of change and innovation for South Korea to become a leading country in the international soccer field.
