Cold Snap, Heavy Snow Predicted This Winter

Weather experts say the recent untimely and heavy snow in the U.S. is attributable to the significant melting of glaciers in the Arctic last summer.

With the melting of the glaciers, a high pressure front developed in the skies of the Arctic and a low pressure front in the North Atlantic Ocean. Cold air went down through the two fronts, bringing heavy and early snows to the U.S.

The situation is similar in the Eurasian region where satellite images show that Central Asia and Mongolia are covered by snow, which fell earlier than usual.

Experts say it is highly likely that the La Nina phenomenon will be observed this winter.

The weather phenomenon will pull down the temperature in the East Pacific Ocean, and as a result, the Korean Peninsula is forecast to be hit by a cold snap and heavy snow this winter.
