A recent study by the state-run disease control center shows that sterilizers in humidifiers are likely to be the cause of a mysterious lung disease.

The Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention has provisionally confirmed that the sterilizers found in humidifiers are the cause of the lung disease.

The nation’s disease control center says that testing the humidifier sterilizers on lab rats revealed symptoms similar to human lung damage for which the cause had not been found.

The CDC has advised the public to stop using the sterilizers and for appliance manufacturers to stop selling them. However, the final results of the recent test will not be announced until next week as a final pathological report and an expert review are still pending.
