'New Technology Developed for Footage Recovery'

The National Forensic Service says it has developed a new method of increasing the rate of recovering video files that have been damaged or deleted.

The forensic service said this technology restores footage in frames, which have greater detail than conventional file units. It said it increases the rate of restoring footage even when black boxes in cars or CCTV footage have been made difficult to view.

The institution has used this technology from the first half of this year to analyze images that investigative institutions have requested with a high rate of success. The forensic service said it plans to make active use of the technology.
