Contact Cut off with S. Korean Climber in Himalayas

Communications have been cut off with South Korean climber Park Young-seok who had set off to scale the south face of Annapurna in the Himalayas.

The Park Young-seok Exploration and Culture Foundation said Thursday that it last held contact with Park via a satellite phone two days ago. Park said during the last contact he was climbing down Annapurna due to serious rockslides after having climbed up 65-hundred meters.

The foundation is trying to find out whether communications with Park have been cut off due to unstable satellite connection or because Park is in danger.

Park attempted to scale Annapurna via a new route last year but failed due to heavy snowfall. He left for the Himalayas on September 19th for a second attempt.
