The nation’s researchers have developed a bogie technology that would allow high-speed trains to travel up to 430-kilometers per hour. The technology involves dispersing power to multiple carriages.

The Korea Railroad Research Institute said on Tuesday that it had successfully completed safety tests on a new bogie truck, which is a key element in the power-dispersed high-speed railway.

The bogie supports the train and delivers the power to the vehicles to pull and brake. The quality of the bogie determines the maximum speed of travel, speed and stability while on curved tracks, and riding comfort.

The institute said it plans to test-drive the new technology in the next-generation bullet trains in full swing from next year.
