Nation Wins Int'l Astronomy Olympiad

South Korea has won the 16th International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO).

In the event held from September 22nd in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the South Korean team won six gold medals and two silver medals.

Lee Wan-hee from Seoul Science High School ranked first in the Beta Group, which is comprised of the older students.

Including this year, the nation has won the event four times since it first participated in 2003.

The 17th IAO will be held in Gwangju, Jeolla Province next year.
