Chuseok Holidays to See Heavy Rain due to Typhoon

This year’s Chuseok holidays are expected to see heavy rain due to a typhoon that is moving north from Japan.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast Friday that Typhoon Kulap is expected to reach the southern waters of Jeju Island early Sunday and affect the Yellow Sea. The weather agency said Kulap, which is the 14th typhoon of the year, is currently moving northward toward the Korean Peninsula from waters near Okinawa.

Though it’s relatively weak in force, Kulap is expected to pour heavy amounts of rain in Jeju and the southern regions on Saturday and Sunday and the central region from Sunday afternoon to Monday.

The southern regions are expected to rain until Monday and the central region until Tuesday.
