S.Korean Men's Colon Cancer Rate Highest in Asia

A study finds South Korean men’s colon cancer rate is the highest in Asia.

According to data from the International Agency for Research on Cancer, the Korean Society of Coloproctology said on Thursday that 46-point-nine out of 100-thousand South Korean men develop colon cancer, the highest disease incidence among Asian countries.

The figure is much larger than those in North American countries such as the U.S. and Canada, which are known to have high colon cancer rates.

An official from the society attributed the rise in domestic colon cancer cases to a westernized diet, smoking and drinking. The official advised that people aged 50 and older need to have a colon endoscopy regularly.
