The cave was found by chance while digging a hole for a telegraph pole. To this day, that hole is the only entrance.

After descending into the cave by a ladder, visitors can see the magnificent details of the long, wide cave formed by lava.

Lava caves are generally black, but the walls of the Yongcheon cave are colorful.

The Yongcheon cave on Jeju Island is one of the world’s rare caves that combine the characteristics of lava and limestone.

Six years have passed since its discovery, but proactive conservation efforts have maintained the pristine beauty of the Yongcheon Cave.

At the IUCN World Conservation Congress next year, the nation will promote its conservation efforts to the world’s environment experts through the example of the Yongcheon cave.
