Blade Runner to Compete in Daegu Athletics Championships

Oscar Pistorius is the first double amputee to have won the right to compete in the IAAF World Championships in Athletics.

The South African athlete known as the "Blade Runner" will compete in the 400 meter and 16-hundred meter relay during the championships.

Pistorius voluntarily held a news conference after his first practice session on the track this week. He appeared relaxed and confident in front of the reporters.

The 24 year old runs with the aid two Flex-Foot Cheetahs artificial legs, which are popular among athletes in the Paralympic Games.
