The organizing committee for the Daegu World Championships in Athletics says it will utilize high-tech and eco-friendly electric equipment at the sporting event.

One item is an electrically-powered sand field cleanup device which will be used at long jump events.

Until now, the sand surface in the pit was manually smoothed after the athletes jumped, but this automatic device will mix and clean up the sand after pressing a couple of buttons.

This is the first time that the contraption is being introduced at the championships.

Another piece of equipment that will be utilized at the games is a two-wheeled vertical self-balancing vehicle on which the driver stands on that can move as fast as 20 kilometers per hour. It's perfect to maneuver around large sport fields.

Other high-tech equipment include electric cars that will carry hurdles and poles as well as transport athletes.

The championships open August 27th.
