US to Send 129 Athletes to Daegu Championships

The United States will sent 129 track and field athletes to the upcoming World Championships in Athletics in Daegu.

The USA Track and Field on Thursday finalized a 129-member squad, which includes eight champions who earned gold medals at the 2009 championships in Berlin.

The 2009 gold medalists include Allyson Felix, winner in the women’s 200 meters, Dwight Phillips in the men’s long jump, and LaShawn Merritt in the men’s 400 meters.

Felix will compete in the 200 meters, 400 meters and 1600-meters relay in Daegu.

The U.S. team will arrive in the city on Saturday and will train at a local stadium before entering the athlete’s village.
