South Korea has failed to advance to the quarterfinals in the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Both the Spanish and South Korean youth soccer teams went scoreless in regulation play, and neither team could snap the deadlock in extra time.

But Spain came out on top in the shoot-out 7-6 when a South Korean player sent a shot high over the crossbar.

South Korea advanced to the quarterfinals in the U-20 World Cup in 2009 where it fell to Ghana.
