Usain Bolt Due in Daegu Next Week

Olympic sprint gold medalist Usain Bolt will arrive in Daegu on August 16th to compete in the 2011 IAAF World Championships, which is set to open on August 27th.

Bolt, the world record holder in the men’s 100 meters and 200 meters, will compete in 100 meter event on August 28th.

The Jamaican sprinter said he is unlikely to break a world record in Daegu due to a relapse of an Achilles tendon injury and back pain. However, Bolt is expected to win three gold medals easily as his rival American Tyson Gay will miss the championships, also due to an injury.

Dubbed “the World’s Fastest Man” and “Lightening Bolt,” the champion will begin his training at Gyeonsan Stadium from next Wednesday.
