Typhoon Muifa to Shower Southern Part of the Nation

The southern part of the nation is expected to catch showers this weekend as Typhoon Muifa moves north from the south coast of Japan towards China.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast that Muifa will bring rains to Jeju Island and the southern coastal areas Saturday morning. The rain will affect the entire southern part of the nation by Saturday afternoon.

High waves are also forecast in waters off the coast of Jeju and in waters off the south and west coasts of the peninsula on Saturday night.

Muifa is the ninth typhoon of the season and is predicted to remain on its northwestern course and hit Shanghai on Sunday night or Monday morning. It is a super typhoon that can travel up to 45 meters per second and has a central atmospheric pressure of 945 hectopascals.
