The government will allocate roughly two-and-a-half trillion won this year to foster talented people in the areas of science and technology.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology unveiled the plan on Monday saying it is working jointly with eleven other government agencies. The ministry said it aims to allow people who have a master’s or doctor’s degree in natural sciences or engineering to work as principals or teachers in science high schools or schools for the gifted.
It added it hopes to revise education laws by the end of the year to enable such experts to fill those roles.
The ministry also said it is aiming to boost national competitiveness by nurturing creative minds in the areas of science and technology through integrated classes in elementary and middle schools.
The creation of an environment where researchers from colleges and institutes can explore their expertise through teaching is also being sought.
