Record Amount of Rain Soaks Central Region

The nation’s central region has seen a record amount of precipitation over the past three days.

Iinland areas of Gyeonggi Province saw nearly seven-hundred millimeters of rain. Gapyeong and Pocheon in Gyeonggi Province have been hit by more than 670 millimeters, which is about half of the annual average of precipitation in the region.

Seoul was soaked with 301-point-five millimeters of rain on Wednesday alone, which is the largest single amount rainfall in the capital city for July since weather observations were first recorded in 1907.

Over 16-hundred millimeters of rain has fallen in Seoul since the start of this year, which is more than the annual average rainfall at 1,450 millimeters.
