The nation is expected to get soaked again on Thursday as heavy rain warnings have been issued for Seoul, Gyeonggi and Gangwon Provinces as well as the inland areas of Chungcheong province.
The Korea Meteorological Administration expects downpours will hit the central region again from Wednesday night through Thursday morning.
Seoul and the inlands areas of Gyeonggi Province have received up to 500 millimeters of rain since Tuesday, while most parts of Gyeonggi and Gangwon Provinces recorded precipitation of 300 millimeters.
The weather agency said the heavy rains will continue through Friday and that it expects 50 to 150 millimeters of rainfall in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon and Chungcheong Provinces.
However, parts of Seoul, Gyeonggi and the western part of Gangwon Provinces are forecasted to receive more than 250 millimeters of rain.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said on Wednesday that the central region has been suffering from the heavy rainfall in localized areas since Tuesday as hot and humid air blown from subtropical regions is colliding with cooler air from the north of the Korean Peninsula.
The agency added that atmospheric conditions around the peninsula are stagnant, thus continuously causing downpours in certain areas.
