Summer Heat Sweeps Nation

Hot summer temperatures continue to sweep the nation and show no immediate signs of letting up.

Afternoon highs on Wednesday hit thirty-five-point-five degrees Celsius in Gochang, South Jeolla Province, and Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province. Gwangju and Daegu saw temperatures of thirty-four-point-five degrees while Seoul and Daejeon sweltered under thirty-two-point-six degree highs.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said that the heat wave has blanketed most of the nation except for coastal areas on the East Sea.

Temperatures are forecast to fall about two to three degrees Celsius on Thursday, but the mercury is still expected to climb above 30 degrees in most regions.

The weather agency expects the heat wave to continue through next week.
