Heat Advisory in Place for 5th Consecutive Day

Most of South Korea remains under a heat advisory for the fifth straight day Wednesday as sweltering temperatures and high humidity continue to plague the nation.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts that afternoon highs will reach 35 degrees Celsius in Gwangju and 33 degrees in Seoul, Daejeon and Daegu.

The weather agency said the tropical night phenomenon in which nighttime low stays above 25 degrees Celsius will persist in Jeju Island and southern regions on Wednesday night.

Three elderly women died due to heatstroke on Monday and Tuesday after working in fields amid the scorching heat.
