South Korea has taken first place at the 42nd International Physics Olympiad held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said Monday that the nation came in first with all five South Korean participants winning gold medals in the event held in Bangkok from August eighth to the 18th. A total of 395 students from 84 countries around the world competed.

South Korea also took sixth place in the 22 International Biology Olympiad held in Taipei, Taiwan last week.
