Heat Advisories Issued Throughout Much of the Nation

Heat wave advisories are in effect in the southern regions and the central Chungcheong and Gangwon provinces as Monday highs are expected to climb above 30 degrees.

The heat wave comes as the high pressure system of the North Pacific continues to bring hot and humid air to the Korean Peninsula.

Temperatures will rise to 33 degrees in capital Seoul, Daejon and Gwangju and to 32 degrees in Daegu. Sultry weather will continue Tuesday nationwide except for the east coast.

The east coast will see heavy rain on Tuesday and Wednesday due to Typhoon Ma-on, the sixth typhoon of the year, which is heading northwest.

Strong winds and high waves are forecast on the south and east coasts from Monday night.
