The seasonal rain front are predicted to slowly move north across the nation and bring monsoon rains to Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and Gangwon Province.
Seasonal showers will weaken in southern regions by Sunday afternoon.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said that heavy rain warnings will be in effect in more regions, more rain will pound Chungcheong Province and the northern part of North Gyeongsang Province.
Central regions will be drenched with up to 50 millimeters of rain per hour from Sunday night. The seasonal showers will be accompanied with strong winds and lightening.
Until Monday, a precipitation of more than 250 millimeters is forecast for the southern part of Gyeonggi Province, Chungcheong Province, and the central and southern areas of Gangwon Province. The central region, North Jeolla Province and the northern part of Gyeongsang Province will be hit by a rain of up to 150 millimeters. Southern regions will see 20 to 70 millimeters of rain.
Rain will settle in southern areas Monday night. But monsoon rains will continue in central regions until Thursday. The weather agency is advising people to make prepare for possible damages.
