Seasonal showers are moving south across the nation after drenching central regions with roughly 200 millimeters of rain on Sunday.

The rain front left thick fog in coastal areas and central inland areas, including Seoul, on Monday morning. The front is expected to linger over the waters off the south coast until Tuesday.

Afternoon highs will reach 28 degrees Celsius in Seoul and about 30 in most other regions on Monday. The steamy, sweltering weather is forecast to continue through Tuesday.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicts that the rain front will again head for the north on Tuesday afternoon, causing heavy rains in Jeju Island.

Monsoon rains are predicted to pound the southern region on Wednesday and all parts of the nation on Thursday.
