S. Korea Advances into Final Round of Olympic Qualifying Tournaments

South Korea’s soccer team has advanced to the final round of regional Olympic qualifying play.

South Korea tied Jordan 1-1 in Amman on Thursday during its second qualifying match against the Middle Eastern country. The nation beat Jordan 3-1 last Sunday.

Jordan struck first on Thursday with a goal towards the end of play in the first half. It wasn’t until mid-way through the second half that South Korea’s Hong Chul netted the tying goal to keep his team in Olympic contention.

The nation will head into the final round of qualifying regional play in September with a 4-2 advantage in the aggregate score. A total of 12 countries will be divided into three groups and the teams that come out on top will play in the Olympics.
