South Korean swimmer Park Tae-hwan has seized the men's 100-meter free title at the Santa Clara International Grand Prix.

Park captured the title on Friday after posting a record of 48-point-92 seconds. He finished just zero-point-69 seconds ahead of American Michael Phelps.

Friday marked the first time for Park to beat Phelps in a competition.

Park is set to compete in the 14th FINA World Championships next month in Shanghai.
