S. Korea Seals 2nd Place in Asiad

One day before the closing of the Asian Games, South Korea added eleven gold medals sealing the second place in overall medal standings after China.

In mixed doubles badminton final, Kim Dong-mun and Ra Kyung-min of South Korea defeated Thailand two to zero for the gold medal.

In light flyweight boxing, Kim Kee-sok downed his Philippine opponent by the score of 24 to 19 to win the gold. South Korea garnered two more golds in bantam weight and welter weight finals.

In the 15-a-side rugby final, South Korea shut out Japan 45 to 35 for a second consecutive gold medal in Asiad.

In men's volleyball final, South Korea defeated Iran 3 to zero for an Asia gold in 24 years.

South Korea also clinched five more gold medals in pentathlon men's relay, men's handball, men's feather weight, men's heavy weight, and women's feather weight taekwondo.

Meanwhile, the nation's soccer squad won a bronze medal in a third-place match with Thailand.

China is way ahead in the medal race with 148 gold medals followed by South Korea with 92 golds, with Japan a distant third with 44 golds.

The 14th Asian Games will come to an end on Monday wrapping up a 16-day competition.
