The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies and seven other domestic science-technology organizations have welcomed the government’s selection of the site for a science and business belt and a boost to the projects budget.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology announced Monday that the Daedeok district in the northern part of Daejeon will serve as the site of the new belt.

The organizations on said on Tuesday that the site choice is just the beginning of the project and it is now critical to turn the National Basic Science Institute and a particle accelerator into successful science facilities.

Moreover, the groups said that the government should drive the project for the nation's development and progress in science and technology and not factor in political and regional interests.
