S. Korea Captures 7 Golds

Now for Asiad updates ... seven more gold medals Friday ... bringing South Korea's total gold medal tally to 22. South Korea outfenced China 45-to-40 to capture the gold medal in the men's team sabre final. In women's team epee, South Korea added another gold medal by defeating China 45 to 35. Kim Jin-soo outlasted Danil Khalimov of Kazakhstan to win the gold medal in the 74 kg Greco Roman wrestling division. In the third place match, Iran's Parviz Zeidvand subdued Ruslan Biktyakov of Uzbekistan for the bronze medal. A dramatic point in overtime gave Kang Kyung-il of Korea a 2-1 win over Dilshod Aripov for the gold in the 60 kg division of Greco Roman wrestling. South and North Korea won the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the men's floor exercise. Kim Seung-il of the South earned the host country its first gymnastics gold at this year's Asiad, scoring 9.525 to finish first among 10 competitors. North Korea's Jo Jong-chol won the silver with 9.450 points. Kim Dong-hwa tied with China's Huang Xu to win the men's gymnastics rings gold medal. Kim had earned his country its first Asiad medal in an individual all-round event in 28 years by capturing the silver medal on Thursday. South Korea also won a gold medal in a 50m Rifle Prone Team Competition. The South Korean team was tied with China, but awarded the gold medal thanks to the comparison of the scores in the previous round.
