Gov't Picks 53 Candidate Sites for Science-Biz Belt

The Education, Science and Technology Ministry says that it has selected 53 candidate sites nationwide for a project to build an international science-business belt.

According to the ministry’s inspection of provincial areas to find proper sites, three candidate locations have been picked in Gwangju and Busan, while two sites were found each in Daegu, Daejeon and Ulsan.

The ministry said on Monday that North Gyeongsang Province has the most candidate sites with nine locations, followed by South Jeolla with seven and South Chungcheong with six.
South Gyeongsang, North Jeolla and North Chungcheong all have five sites each.

The government said that the committee in charge of the science-business belt project will announce in late May the final site based on its inspection results.
