Celebrations Held for Science Day

The 44th anniversary of Science Day was marked by various celebrations at the Gwacheon National Science Museum near Seoul.

A total of 78 people attended the awards ceremony on Thursday morning and were awarded for their contributions to the development and promotion of science and technology. They included Korea Academy of Nuclear Safety chief Im Yong-gyu, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) professor Nam Su-wu, and Inha University President Lee Bon-su.

The celebration also included simulations of handling ships and flying airplanes. Visitors could also try controlling robotic equipment.

The science museum is free to the public on Thursdays and will also be free this Saturday and Sunday. The 2011 Family Science Festival 2011 will be held in April.
