Japanese media highlights Busan Asiad in its national reporting

Major Japanese news media have covered the opening ceremony of the Busan Asian Games in their front pages Monday. Both Ashai and Yomiuri Shimbun featured in their front pages the joint entrance of the two Koreas into the stadium and a torch-lighting photo by Ha-hyung-ju, a professor in Busan and former Olympic medalist in Judo and Gye Soon-hi, a female judoist of North Korea. Yomiuri also featured that the Busan Asiad became specially meaningful in that North Korea and Afghanistan have dispatched their team in the games. Ashai paper said the opening ceremony at the main stadium was filled with cheers and enthusiasm with the bright smiles of the players when entered the jam-packed stadium. Mainichi Shimbun also stated that the curtain of festival of harmony during the Busan Asiad was raised with fanfare and extravaganza.
