Seoul to Host Arctic Science Summit Week

Global arctic organizations will gather in Seoul next week for the Arctic Science Summit Week 2011.

The Korea Polar Research Institute on Thursday said that the 13th summit will open on Sunday at the COEX convention center in southern Seoul for a six-day run.

Under the theme of “the Arctic: New Frontier for Global Science,” the participants will discuss global warming and climate change around the world.

The summit is a conference of international nongovernmental groups on the Arctic, including the International Arctic Science Committee and the International Arctic Social Sciences Association (IASSA). South Korea is the second Asian host after China.
