Pyeongchang to See Off IOC Inspectors with Festivities

Pyeongchang, which is bidding to host the 2018 Winter Olympics, has prepared a unique farewell event for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) inspectors.

The IOC delegation has been in Pyeongchang since Monday for an on-site inspection of the area.

Pyeongchang says that it will have some nine-thousand residents in the region create a festive atmosphere with international and Olympic flags and performances by a marching band and a military band. Folk music troupes will also play traditional Korean music.

The ceremony will be held in three parts, with the first starting at 9:30 a.m., the second at 1 p.m. and the third at 2 p.m. This is to ensure that all members of the IOC delegation are able to attend the farewell event, as they will depart separately.

A county official said Pyeongchang would do its best until the very end to make a powerful impression and demonstrate its strong desire to host the 2018 Winter Olympics.
