An evaluation team from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has begun on-site inspections in South Korea's Pyeongchang County as part of the nation's bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics.

The Pyeongchang bidding committee is presenting on eight topics and will introduce Pyeongchang’s vision and winter sports facilities before the IOC group, which comprises 14 members and is led by Sweden's Gunilla Lindberg.

The presentation is being held in the form of a question-and-answer session. Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Choung Byoung-gug and Korea Tourism Organization President Lee Cham will address questions at the session.

The IOC group will tour major facilities in Jeongseon, Pyeongchang and Gangneung starting on Thursday. The group will discuss the results of its inspection at a closing news conference on Saturday.
