Speed skater Lee Seung-hoon has won the men's 5,000-meter race at the Asian Winter Games under way in Kazakhstan, setting a new Asian record in the process.

On the games' second day on Monday, Lee won the race at the Indoor Speed Skating Stadium in Astana with a time of six minutes 25.56 seconds. Lee is aiming to win four gold medals in the tournament.

Team Korea also finished first in both the men's and women's 15-hundred-meter short track events.

Kim Sun-joo won South Korea's first gold medal at the Games in women's downhill alpine skiing.
