Park JS Leaves Team Korea

Soccer player Park Ji-sung has announced that the recently wrapped-up Asian Cup would be his last tournament as a member of the South Korean national team.

Park said in a news conference Monday that he has decided to retire from the national soccer team in order to give young players the opportunity to develop.

He said that due to the chances he was given to participate in international matches, he was able to improve his game, and that he hopes to open up spots for young players to do the same.

Park added it has been a great honor to be a member of the national team for eleven years.
During the period, Park represented South Korea 100 times.

His announcement comes a day after the South Korean team arrived home upon returning from the Asian Cup in Doha, Qatar, where Team Korea finished third.
