Hynix Develops New DRAM Chip

Hynix Semiconductor says it has developed the world’s first four gigabit DDR3 DRAM chip using 30 nanometer technology.

Hynix said Wednesday that the new chip is faster than preexisting chips at processing information and that it also uses less power.

Separately, the chipmaker is planning to begin the mass production of a two gigabit DDR3 DRAM chip using 30 nanometer technology in the first quarter of next year.
